Superficial

Fully botoxed face, plumped upper lip, enhancements here and there. Is this our generation’s conventional definition of beauty?
Is this how beauty is already being measured? Are people continually being enslaved by the shallowness of a perfect face rather than how beauty should be profoundly seen?
Everywhere I go, every channel I scan, I see a multitude of deity-like features and hercules’ like physique. A parade of silicon infested beauties and skeletor bodies; a mob of people who were under the knife or had memories with those fat-sucking lipo machines. Is this how the essence of beauty is being measured now? And they still wonder why many teenage kids are either bulimic or anorexic just to fit in? Really? What a shame.

Due to how media had portrayed beauty to the common people, many are stressing out to cope up with the standards of how beauty is being judged by the shallow many. Yes indeed, being beautiful outside gives each and everyone a dose of their own pride and ego boosts yet more often than not, many are going over board just to achieve and feel beautiful which supposedly should not be the case. Millions of moolahs are shelled out just to tweak parts of somebody’s face which they felt the need to change because they see it as ugly. Nutrition is sacrificed just to get those curves and avoid those developing flabs. Instead of time being spent with the family, more time is spent in the gym to achieve those perfect vital stats and 6 packs. In the showbiz industry it doesn’t matter how many Botox treatments you’ve undergone or how many times you changed or got rid of your God-given features because you were ashamed of them. As long as you still look like yourself from 20-30 years ago, nobody cares. That’s how the business goes. That’s how those A-listers manage to appear on the silverscreen every month looking like how they used to in their younger years, that’s how models are being fired because they are not skinny enough to look like a walking skeletor in print ads and runways. But more often than not, seeing physical beauty alone is not healthy anymore. As you can see, due to the portrayal of how beauty is, thanks to the massive effect of media with its never ending ads of edited almost perfect men and women, many people think they are ugly because they do not meet with these standards and many people criticize someone to be ugly when s/he has tons of imperfections. Celebrity photos are being airbrushed in magazines for them to look perfect, tons of make up layers are being dabbed on these celebrities faces to cover the imperfections and corsets are worn behind those outfits to produce those wanted curves. Because of this, the media is trying to produce a Venus-like physical perfection which doesn’t even exist and is unattainable through natural means. They make some celebrity be like an epitome of perfection through various enhancements and pressuring the common people to be like them to be called a beauty. They are creating a notion and a norm that beauty is about multiple botox operations, never ending liposuctions, plastic surgeries and breast enhancements which defies and overhauls or overshadows what real beauty is. People try too hard to develop themselves physically and forgetting what really means the most—inner beauty. They seemed to be engrossed on being beautiful in the outside that they forget how to be beautiful on the inside. They maintain a perfect façade with a disgusting personality. Read your magazines to know that not all your angelic looking celebrities are angelic within and you may know somebody personally who is gifted with a beautiful appearance but a mean attitude. A beautiful face with an ugly heart is nothing; a beautiful person on the inside is something. Many may brag about their beauty now and step on others thinking that because they are prettier then they are better than anybody else. But they must know and we should remember that beauty isn’t eternal. Many may try to avoid losing the pretty face and perfect body they are proud of but it will eventually fade whether they like it or not. It is better to be remembered as somebody who has a beautiful heart rather than just another pretty face without a mark.

You’re not just a pretty face, aren’t you?

P.S This is a re-post. I had a problem with my slug on the past entry.  As if it matters. ;-)
